@Melissa - You need to know the difference between veggie and vegan particularly before suggesting someone else has made a mistake. Unless you really expect Ben to say "lacto-ovo-vegetarian" toast.
Good choice of hotel there..You may want to try Hermitage Hotel in Jakarta which just 10 minutes away from your hotel..a very unique hotel..pleasedo a same review should you stay there
Thanks for this review! I'd wondered how this property might compare with the other luxury options. It looks fantastic! Other than the outdoor pool not being available for hotel guests--which seems strange to me, even if I'd rarely use a hotel pool in a city--this hotel looks fantastic, especially for anyone wanting to maintain SPG status or use points or benefit from SPG Plat status.

Late evening/night arrival is key to making it through Jakarta traffic, the ride from airport to "Downtown" Jakarta (=Thamrin) can easily take you anywhere from 2-4 hours on a bad day.
I am in Jakarta every month and traffic can be horrific, Jakarta together with Manila wins in the "Cities with the worst traffic" category, at least in Asia (haven't been to India or Africa).
The U.S. Grant (another LC property) also has Remede products (at least when I was last there).
The Keraton looks gorgeous -- especially that shower 🙂

Jakarta is my least favorite city in SE Asia so I spend a lot of time inside the hotel and since traffic is horrible most of my business meetings are held in the hotel. I will try the Keraton next time. That amenity kit wrapped in plastic gives mixed feelings. While it protects the food from dust, etc.. it would be a nice touch if they take it our right before you get into the room.
Thanks for the great report! I really like all the photos you put up. Nothing makes a great hotel report better than lots of photos like what you did. Based on your report, I will definitely stay at the Keraton the next time I am in Jakarta.
In 2016 I stayed at the Hermitage Hotel because it is cheaper than the Keraton. The Hermitage is a nice hotel, but "simpler" as far as their features and amenities go. It is a very nice boutique hotel and I enjoyed my stay there. Also, it is located in a residential neighborhood so there is absolutely nothing around it, whereas the Keraton is right next to a huge nice mall. Unless you just want to be staying away from downtown and in a residential neighborhood, I think the Keraton will be a better choice for most travelers rather than the Hermitage.
Interesting lounge concept. Seems pricey for Jakarta. And I guess I don't understand the appeal of eating everything in the hotel. A big part of travel for me is getting out and eating and sightseeing where I am.
Definitely pricey for Jakarta.
On respect of the traffic: Night hours (i.e. late evening/early morning) helps for sure. The other factor is rain, which makes it a lot worse. I don't fully understand why, but it has to do with how the numerous motorbikes move in rainy conditions.

Quick question regarding SPG Gold benefit. "An upgrade to an enhanced room at check-in — corner room, higher floor, or better view." I stay at SPG properties several times a year and never really intend to do a mattress run, so I know if I booked the cheapest room, typically they would upgrade me to a better room (excluding suite). However, this is my question, let's say there are three types of room (standard - superior - suite), If I booked a superior room, which is the middle tier, would they possibly upgrade me to suite considering it's a "better room" (though it's kind of contradicting their "excluding suite" policy).
I just need your clarification, that's all.

@johnw having worked with a Starwood hotel, many years back, Gold members were not upgraded, but we did try to provide the best view rooms within the category. Eg, if someone was booked into an Executive Club Room, we tried to give them a room overlooking the gardens or the swimming pool. Not sure what their current policies are.
