What's to stop them from jacking up the price of the standard rate and making these advanced purchase rates the new de facto standard rate?
Seems like what SPG does - it feels like every time I'm shopping for a similar caliber hotel between Hyatt & SPG, they have a similar price until you realize that SPG is non-refundable advanced purchase and you have to pay 20% more just to get the same rate as an equivalent Hyatt.
Hyatt must have the worst website of any major hotel chain. The website is always down. What in the world are they doing?

@robertw they probably blocked your IP. I have the same issue when I use VPN sometimes.
So, I've been looking at booking the Andaz Singapore for certain dates in January and have been debating between booking for cash or for points. For a month, the member rate has been 315 SGD per night. Today, when I checked, the nonrefundable member rate is now 315 SGD and the member rate is 333 SGD.
So, it appears that in fact the property has simply swapped the previous member price with the nonrefundable price and has jacked up the member price by 18 SGD per night.
What utter bullshit. Hyatt finds new ways to screw customers. Yet another "upgrade" that's a devaluation, and likely designed to thwart BRGs.
@robertw - I don't experience this at all and I'm searching on their website at least 2-3 times a week. What time zone are you in? Maybe you are searching when they have scheduled updates.
This is a very poor substitute for my elite rate. There's a reason hotels love AP rates. They make a ton of money on rooms that don't get used because peoples' plans frequently change unexpectedly.

@larry I called it. SPG does the same thing! It will now be de facto that the standard rate is non-refundable where before you could pay the same money and have it refundable.
I suggest you complain to Hyatt citing your example. I'd like to think that if enough people complain that they will reverse this decision.
