Hyatt is bringing The StandardX to North America with a roughly 1,800-room Times Square hotel opening in 2028, complete with an enclosed free-fall thrill ride and observation deck.

Time for a game of, "guess the category", with "actual opening date" as a tiebreaker

A possible correction: I believe the QURO Bangkok was formerly the Standard - the Standard X Bangkok is a separate property.

@ philandkatz -- I could be mistaken, but all the reports I see online suggest it was The StandardX. Is that not correct?

That's correct. I visited this property last year. Did not stay there. This is right next to the last stop of the river ferry. And 10 minute walk from Khao San road. So very convenient location. I was given a tour of the rooms and the feel was 2 starish.

Certainly not my favorite part of the city (*shivers*), but I guess useful if going to shows. The Standard at the Highline is in a cool spot (neat architecture, too; the former elevated rail turned tourist walkway goes through it.) They have a decent biergarten.

"This will be Hyatt’s biggest-ever hotel in New York, and the room count is just shy of the city’s biggest hotel, which is the Marriott Marquis, with nearly 2,000 keys."

this is actually why it's pronounced the "marriott more-key," few know this fact
