The landing page and terms make it look like all elite AA levels can get Globalist providing you stay 20 nights. Is that not the case?
@ Mentees Salmon -- You're correct, that doesn't seem to be a restriction this time around. I just updated the post to reflect that, thanks!
Much better for Hyatt loyalists than AA. Lucky wouldn’t you equate Explorist to AA Gold or similar? No way Plat Pro.
I see something loaded on my AA account. I have have AA Platinum linked to Hyatt globalist.
The biggest issue is that I don't see what AA status it would get me if I click the "Register" button. If it would give me Platinum Pro, I would register as late as possible before my next flight (by September 4).
I think the following line implies that I must receive higher status from doing the promo? "Customers may not participate in an Instant Status Pass™ promotion for the same or lower status that the status they currently hold."
Here's what it says:
Instant Status Pass™ Rules:
With Instant Status Pass™, members will receive status immediately after registering and receive Loyalty Point activity requirements every 4 months in order to keep the benefits of the Instant Status Pass™.
To earn status for the next membership year, you must meet all 3 Loyalty Point activity requirements. All Loyalty Points are eligible for Instant Status Pass™ requirements.
Registrants will have the opportunity to upgrade their Instant Status Pass™ based on their Loyalty Points earned during the first 4 months. To continue with at least AAdvantage Gold® status, you must earn 13,000 Loyalty Points in the first 4 months of Instant Status Pass™.

Do we think that SUBs on credit cards would qualify for Loyalty Points? If so, I could time three sign ups for AA cards and get enough each period.
Update! I got an email from AA that clarified it.
Great news, because you are a World of Hyatt® member with Globalist status, you can enjoy complimentary AAdvantage® status when you register for the Instant Status PassTM promotion. You get to enjoy the elevated benefits of status with our award-winning loyalty program for up to a year while you qualify for the membership year.
How it works
Register to enjoy instant AAdvantage Platinum Pro® status. Earn Loyalty Points whenever you fly or earn eligible AAdvantage® miles with our partners. Meet the Loyalty Point goals every 4 months to keep status and move on to the next phase.
Does it start the day you register or the day after? Do Venetian stays count?
I’m hesitant to click to the terms in my AA account because I don’t want it to be a one-click signup.
@ Eric -- Sign-up bonuses don't qualify as Loyalty Points. Only one point per dollar spent on AA cards.
Thanks Ben. That took about 30 seconds to be reflected on my account. Upgraded from LT Plat to Plat Pro, which gives me Emerald and a chance to try some other lounges. I did receive the e-mail as well.
Hi Ben, am planning to reach the 100 night milestone reward w Hyatt later this year and select AA Platinum status as my choice. Do you know if I sign up to this offer in order to have AA status in the meanwhile (and don't meet the loyalty points threshold thereafter), would that preclude me from using my milestone reward that way?
I am an Explorist and got the offer to status match to AA Platinum. Once I do that and my AA elite status is updated, can I register for the Hyatt challenge? I’d like to work toward Globalist. Currently I don’t have AA elite status.
@ LondonDubaiNewYork -- I see no reason that wouldn't work, assuming you don't have Platinum status at the time that you make the selection. 🙂
@ Amber W. -- I could be mistaken, but I believe this offer is based on your status at the start of the promotion period, so I don't think you can double match in that way, unfortunately.
@ Nate -- Venetian stays should count, since you're qualifying for elite nights.
Hey Ben (and all!), wanted to ask that LPs will continue to count towards my regular status after registering for the status pass, right?
I'm AA gold now and am on track to getting 60k+ LPs to get to platinum pro, which should be valid until Feb 2027. if I register for the instant status pass, I'd need 42k every 4 months three times to get status for a year. I assume the LPs I earn during my status pass challenge would still count towards my current LP, and I wouldn't need to earn 42k every 4 months; after I get my remaining 60k LPs, I'd get platinum pro until 2027 without needing to do the challenge anymore, right? Thanks!
Ben, do you see any problem If I book a 20-nights stay, check-in in person, but leave before the checkout date on the reservation, and just give it a call on the day of checkout to close the bill?
