I live here in San Miguel de Allende since mid 2000's and can confirm this news... so not surprised... Just wondering WHERE though if it is suppose to be close to the Rosewood? - Reason being, there is not much vacant land in Centro for such a large project unless they have bought out one of the large parking lots that have recently closed down near the Rosewood... Hmmm? Now with the Waldorf having residences that can be purchased, those with bottomless bank accounts will want to check all their options out -- Westin Residences (outskirts of the city), Marriott Cleviá (closer to edge of town) along with the Rosewood residences that go for a mere million or two!
They do have some good ones but I just stayed at The Roosevelt Waldorf New Orleans and it was terrible. The service, top to bottom was also terrible. The food was terrible. The app. for reserving a room was terrible. Guest Services was terrible. Hilton should remove the Waldorf name from their New Orleans property!
The hotel room and bathroom absolutely beautiful. The hotel building itself looks like a Mexican prison. What happened to red-tiles roofs? The arches are appropriate, the main building totally inappropriate for San Miguel. How about a design that compliments the local architecture or hacienda architecture?
I am from San Miguel and it is insane how politicians are filling their pockets with these projects who sanmiguelenses do not have any benefits. And there is a lack of water in the city already. And the traffic is horrible in all San Miguel. These kind of projects are just destroying the city and the people living there.
We owned a home in Centro for several years so know the town well. Everything changes, nothing remains the same. San Miguel is no different. When I saw the news article, the first thing I thought was all the jobs that will be created. SMA has a vibrant economy in contrast to so many other Mexican cities.

The Rosewood needs the competition. I live here part time and have traveled throughout the world, and nothing approaches SMA for culture, art, food, weather and beauty. See one Posada at Xmas and you'll never leave.

We had so much fun back then.
It's a town that is just too perfect and the gringos dont really fit in.
Now we have Hyatt and Rosewood and Waldorf.
Oh well. Times change.
Straight from Mayor Trejo’s mouth - the hotel will be constructed on Calle Cardo on the site of that big parking lot (across from the Rosewood properties).
We live right around the corner from where the new Waldorf will be, it will be located in the best neighborhood in town in my opinion.
