A Waldorf Astoria is coming to Lake Tahoe, which is exciting. What’s not exciting is how long we’ll have to wait for this to open.

1) I am guessing (hope) the residences will be able to be put into a rental pool

2) Even with that, its 137 rooms total max. Ritz Carlton Tahoe is 170 rooms. I think what we really need is more "resort factories" in key locations across the world. The amount of good resorts worldwide is really limited, and there is a lot more demand than meets supply. There should be a 250 room JW Marriott, a big Andaz, Hyatt Regency, a Park Hyatt, a Curio, etc in Lake Tahoe...

It’s a bit misleading to call some of the rooms “slope-side” because this property isn’t near any ski slopes at all. Closest are Diamond Peak and Northstar, about 15 minutes away

Looks beautiful. I'll start saving now since I would anticipate award bookings to be about 500,000 Hilton points/night.

As a NorCal resident…Tahoe is SEVERELY overrated. It’s also full of white people which is NOT the spirit of a progressive cosmopolitan area.

What, you don't love the super awesome Embassy Suites there?

Horrendous. Yet another nail in beautiful Tahoe's coffin. Endless traffic, air pollution, wildfire smoke, mass tourism ... and luxury brands certainly contributed to the ruining it for everyone.

I agree. The Biltmore was a locals hangout. What we really need is more luxury for more rich tourists.

When is the Astoria hotel going to open. Have they received approval to demolish the Biltmore so they can go forward with their project?
