Continental 1419, TPA-EWR Saturday, January 17 Depart: 7:05AM Arrive: 9:36AM Seat: 1B I got to the airport at around 6:10AM for my 7:05AM flight. I had to check a bag (since my brother wanted me to bring some stuff back to Tampa), which took only a few minutes. There was no line at security, and…

I am a continental flight attendant and do my job well. I understand that the aisle flight attendant was maybe in a bad mood, but if you experienced what we go through you would understand.

Some of the things you mentioned essential makes me think that you believe our job is to be at your beck and call. Like your blanket plastic wrap, come on, give me a break. You wanted to see how long it would take for us to take it away? Do what every other passenger on the thousands of flights I've had does and just stick it on the side of your seat or put it in the seat pocket. Honestly I wouldn't pick it up either, unless it was on your finished tray. Its almost like the passengers that when we collect trash, take about 20 seconds to fumble around to give us a 2X2 piece of paper.

Probably the most annoying thing you did, is as soon as you walked in, you asked for us to take your coat. There are so many things that go on during boarding that is the least of importance. Again as every passenger does they lay it across their lap, and towards the end of boarding we come and get them. We absolutely hate when people are holding up their coats, like their hands are on fire for us to take the coats, we will relax.

Then you asked about a muffin, The muffin is not for your class of service, sometimes they board just enough for the coach cabin. You already got your breakfast (which i agree is not that much, but it depends on the market) so who are you to ask for more food?

You are the sterotypical passenger that we hate, especially by taking the time to post your review on here, obviously your one that is picky about everything and has to point out all the bad things.

Wow Flight Attendant, I'm speechless. If asking nicely for an extra muffin when there are nearly a dozen laying on the counter is too much to ask, I don't think there's any way I could reason with you. I love how you point out my negative observations, when there are just as many positive observations.

Thanks for reading.

Wow, FA you sound really bitter. "so who are you to ask for more food?" Sounds like something out of "Oliver Twist". Who is he? He is a premium cabin passenger. Contrast with ANA F service (yes, I realize it's a different world) where they are happy to bring you any item from any cabin. That's 'award winning service'.

As for the coat thing, on some airlines they do offer to get the coats early -- it's not as though that's something strange.

While I think that Flight Attendant's reply was a bit harsh (and alarming, coming from a flight attendant), I must say that I'm inclined to agree with her.
Getting on a plane and trying to get a flight attendant to take your coat- which is something they're already planning to do, as opportunity arises- is pretty much like saying, "You're not doing you job fast enough for me, now hurry it up."
So you pretty much set the tone, BOTH for the cabin crew's opinion of you, AND for your opinion of their award- winning service.
You thought that Continental's vocal advertisements almost felt like USAir? You've got to be joking. Are we talking about the same USAir? The one that is currently slapping sticky advertisement labels to the meal trays in FIRST CLASS? Apparently, we're not.
And now you're griping about them touting their award-winning service. They DID just win a HANDFULL of service awards- let 'em tout it.
Now you're griping about the inflight magazine.
Now you're griping about a free pen with a purchase.
Now you're griping that you received a SNACK service on a flight listed as being a SNACK flight. You're getting harder to please every moment.
Now you're griping that you received additional first-class food, rather than coach food, which they may have been out of.

TO SUMMARIZE and make my point:
You turned your nose up at Flight Attendant's reply because he/she didn't point out that you made some positive statements.
While you did, your negative ones really take the cake here. It's called NITPICKING, or the art of picking nits.

I don't work for CO, but I do fly them, along with other Sky Team and international carriers. I can say that in my many experiences, they beat the pants off of that sorry excuse for an airline United any day.

I've lost interest in reading your subsequent reports, based on the idea that I know they're going to be negative for the craziest of reasons.

"I am a continental flight attendant and do my job well. I understand that the aisle flight attendant was maybe in a bad mood, but if you experienced what we go through you would understand. "

First, you may THINK you do your job well, but it is the paying passenger who ultimately makes that decision. Secondly, I am in customer service employees, and regardless of the stress I may feel, I NEVER let my stress affect my professionalism, no matter how unreasonable I may think their requests are.

"Its almost like the passengers that when we collect trash, take about 20 seconds to fumble around to give us a 2X2 piece of paper. "

Maybe you should slap them so they would speed up the process of making your job easier.

"Probably the most annoying thing you did, is as soon as you walked in, you asked for us to take your coat. There are so many things that go on during boarding that is the least of importance."

Maybe a simple, "Sir, I'll get your coat in a few minutes" along with a smile would be all you need to do to create a pleasant experience for your customer.

I have traveled on UA, CO, AA, WN, and several international carriers in all classes. Some FA's enjoy their jobs and show it by going the extra mile to make their customers feel welcome. Others, like you, do what they think is required to get their paycheck. Maybe, instead of using a "do what is minimally required" attitude, you used a "how can I exceed my customers' expectations" attitude, you and CO might REALLY stand out for excellent service.

Flight Attendant, like so many other US-based FAs, sounds bitter and jaded. One of the many reasons I've switched most of my flying to International carriers when traveling overseas and Virgin America & Jetblue within the States.
