Lately we’ve seen many airlines introduce free inflight Wi-Fi and messaging for members of their frequent flyer program. Emirates is the latest airline to announce that it’s expanding free Wi-Fi, though interestingly the airline is just reflecting changes that were made earlier this year. Let’s go over the details.

Why wouldn't Emirates update the wifi tech when they are investing so much on new cabins? Surely with a new hard product the aim is for at least another 7-10 years of service, and with so many very lengthly flights - US-Middle East, Australia-Europe for example, being able to be productive will be more and more of a priority.
Is ripping out and replacing the antennas that costly?
Not much improvement really - I’d just like to see them get rid of that centre business seat on the 777 and make the seats fully flat
