5/24 is absolutely still enforced. I was denied twice due to it, and the reconsideration rep flat-out told me that was the reason. The internet is filled with stories of people dealing with the same in recent weeks and months.
It's irresponsible of you to claim otherwise, frankly. It could lead people to putting unnecessary dings on their credit for cards in order to apply twice for cards they'll never get.
What a weird, angry comment @Raj. Ben wrote that 5/24 id a rule "that’s no longer consistently enforced." That is indeed my experience as well. Generally, 5/24 was rarely enforced on business cards anwyay.
Maybe you were denied for other reasons?
@ Raj -- Sorry for any confusion, but I stated that it's no longer consistently enforced, not that it isn't enforced at all. You're absolutely right that it's enforced for some people, but it's not enforced for others. There are tons of data points out there confirming this.
Raj, did you read the article? Did you fail reading comprehension in school? Ben expressly wrote, "Chase is known for the 5/24 rule, though that’s no longer consistently enforced."
What Chase should do is exactly what American Express did with their Business Gold Card and offer bonuses in the two most used categories out of a number of options. That would make this card a keeper.
I got denied at first. My Chase Business advisor went back to the team and told them to close my Business Ink card (I don't use it anymore since I just recently signed up for the Business Ink Unlimited card) and move the credit line over to the CSRB instead, and was approved for it. Supposed to be delivered tomorrow.
My app went into pending status. I called the following day & was approved after shifting credit lines around (typical for me with Chase). Unfort did not receive the actual card by 6.30 to book a quick Edit credit.
Went to my local branch and I was first one they had the week of 6/23. Personal banker took my information and we did online. Instant approval with 44K limit. A vendor recently started to take cards for payments with no fees, so this should be easy to get this massive bonus with several thousand dollars. Get me about 16 nights at HR in Bangkok free. Thank you Chase.

I still don't see the value for the pusiness CSR or the personal CSR card compared to the preferred card. The new refresh seems to limit the benefits similar to other card providers such as the restaurant credit being used according to a list, etc. Furthermore, as there will not be redemption bonuses and the CSR has dialed back on the rewards structure, it won't be much different from the CSP card or the INK or Unlimited card for businesses. Applying just based on the welcome bonus has never made sense to me. I think it is not just about the welcome bonus but also about justifying keeping the card.
Was that really necessary? Would you say that to a co-worker? No because your ass would be fired.
Totally agreed about the CSR. I have the personal card since its depute but I am seriously considering ditching it in a couple of years (I have some 2026 travel booked on it). Either canceling it entirely or downgrade it to Preferred. I think I am switching most of my travel to BILT and others after October.
Thanks for this! Ben, I'd reallllly love one of the bloggers do a deep dive on the new Points Boost thing. I feel like no one's really dug in deep to see exactly what types of flights/hotels are getting that higher redemption rate. Also, if there's any sense of what drives the higher rate (and if we might see higher rates on different things a year from now than we're seeing today)
I saw your "Denial" of application. you forgot to mention it clearly stated " We are Denying your application because you are too stupid".
You dont see the value doesnt mean its not there. 3X on advertising. I am in ecommerce. I know others in my business that will crush that. While the Chase Business Ink Plus has that, its 3X shipping and advertising and capped at 150K a year. The wecome bonus at 200K is a great valuye even though you dont see it. For people this card fits its definitely a great one. Amex Gold also does 4X advertising. But capped at 150K I know people who have 6-12 of those cards and pay the fees since its worth it. Its a way to get Chase points which to me have pretty good value. For spend itself at the bonus level its far better than AMEX plat business or personal.
