It's a nice idea, really. But my oh my did you surprise me by stating that the flight from London to Kuala Lumpur was operated from London to Kuala Lumpur! Who would expect! 😀
I can imagine that, as this was a one-off, they either had to subscribe to operate on this flight or were on a separate contract. There was probably some legally valid construction involved. And don't forget how bad the unions would look if they completely destroyed the birthday party of a company. You probably don't know, but unions in Europe aren't as popular as they used to be, especially since they ruined a lot of fun potentially fun and good things in the past, just out of principle.

Just curious, did BA ever have a policy against allowing immediate family members working as staff on the same flight? Eons ago, SQ had a policy where siblings are not allowed to work on same flight. The S’pore girls told me it had more to do with minimizing grief to the surviving family should the plane go down.
