Normally, I wouldn't pay much attention to anything in the Daily Mail. this is the kind of story that they and their readership just Love. The only thing that would have made them happier is if there were Labour ministers involved. However, it doesn't seem particularly blown out of proportion this time. What a weird couple of stories!

As usual I'm sure there are three sides to this story, the crew, the passengers and the truth.
It's worth bearing in mind that the Daily Mail is a right wing tabloid whose raison d'être is to point out how Britain is going to hell in a handcart. Any story about a British institution is pounced upon with gusto and Mr and Mrs Angry from Walton-on-the-Naze are invited to comment.
They also have a predilection with asylum seeker bashing and cancer. Search for the 'Daily Mail song' on youtube for a short summary.
So in short, I'm sure something happened on the flight but relying on the Daily Mail for facts is about as sensible as relying on the National Enquirer.
