Another drunken rampage by off duty British Airways crew…

British Airways seems to be having a really bad month when it comes to the behavior of their off duty crew members. Last week a drunk off duty pilot decided he wanted to f*&^ another passenger, and now the Daily Mail reports that off duty staff on a London to Washington flight went on a drunken rampage:

A drunken British Airways cabin crew ran amok while off-duty on a flight sparking angry complaints from passengers, it emerged today.

Stewards and stewardesses were seen downing bottles of champagne and red wine in front of stunned onlookers in First and Club premium cabins.

Passengers said the BA staff began screaming and shouting ‘like spoiled brats’. Some reported them kissing and ‘heavy petting’.

Ouch! This is one of those instances where I wish someone had taken a video…

(Tip of the hat to Wes)

  1. Oh, those wacky Brits. It’s like they all turn into obnoxious boozehounds as soon as they cross the UK borders…

  2. You really want to see a video of British Air crewmembers engaged in “heavy petting”? I think I’d pass on that. 😀

  3. hmmm… why don’t they fly these off duty crew in coach to begin with? they could have sold those first class seats, no?

  4. Ok, I know us Yanks can be a bit obnoxious at times when we are sober, well maybe more often than not. But seriously, can the Brits please control their alcohol consumption, pretty please.

  5. I can’t say I’m bloody surprised at all. This seems like most of my backpacking trips with Brits. Drunk as piss & tons of fun. They keep the Don Draper drinking dreams alive …

  6. Normally, I wouldn’t pay much attention to anything in the Daily Mail. this is the kind of story that they and their readership just Love. The only thing that would have made them happier is if there were Labour ministers involved. However, it doesn’t seem particularly blown out of proportion this time. What a weird couple of stories!

  7. Lucky,

As usual I’m sure there are three sides to this story, the crew, the passengers and the truth.

It’s worth bearing in mind that the Daily Mail is a right wing tabloid whose raison d’être is to point out how Britain is going to hell in a handcart. Any story about a British institution is pounced upon with gusto and Mr and Mrs Angry from Walton-on-the-Naze are invited to comment.

They also have a predilection with asylum seeker bashing and cancer. Search for the ‘Daily Mail song’ on youtube for a short summary.

So in short, I’m sure something happened on the flight but relying on the Daily Mail for facts is about as sensible as relying on the National Enquirer.
