Doing SFO-CDG-LHR in the new la premiere tomorrow. Any tips or anything I must try/do? First time in AF F!
@sfodan Fun, hope you have a great trip! The good news is that flying La Premiere is pretty "easy" to maximize, since they take care of you every step of the way. So it's not like you have to advocate for yourself much to get the best experience.
Depending on how long your layover in Paris is, I'd already email the La Premiere service center ([email protected]) and ask if they can reserve a spa treatment for you. Also save your hunger for the lounge, as that's where the best food is. That truffle chicken sandwich is *chef's kiss*.

@samar Just so you know, the rules to upgrade to La Première have once again changed recently, and you can only upgrade business class tickets booked with cash. You can also only upgrade those with cash unless you have Platinum or Ultimate status, in which case you can use miles. Award tickets are no longer eligible for upgrades.
@clem I had heard that enforcement of those upgrade rules are inconsistent, so I’m hopeful it remains so when it comes time for me to fly. If they closed it up, then oh well, I’ll still enjoy my business class seat.
@samar you're right, it has been inconsistent - up until a few weeks ago. The Flying Blue management even has acknowledged that they implemented all the restrictions at last. I suppose there might be workarounds out there, but definitely don't expect to get lucky otherwise. Sucks for all of us!
@clem good to know that I shouldn't hold out hope. I was hoping for the opportunity to try out LP after AF canceled the Sunday CDG-PHX flight in January (got a free reroute to CDG-JFK-PHX). I'll most likely hold on to the res anyway since I've never flown AF's 77W J (I secured one of the bulkhead seats), and also to spend a good amount of time in the Delta One lounge at JFK.
Hopefully you have a few hours in the lounge! As Ben said, make sure you come hungry as there are great dishes to try out. You likely won't be able to get a spa treatment so close to the date, but still ask the agent that will pick you up from the plane at CDG, you never know. Enjoy, it's one of the greatest experiences out there, hopefully you also get to fly the new suite!
@clem He stated that he's in the new LP already, so that's the great news. I find the chaise longue / bed to be one of the most comfortable products in FC of any carrier, and love the fact that one can watch a movie whilst dozing off.
@SFODan If you can't get a spa reservation in advance, it's always worth enquiring when you get to the LP lounge, as they do have cancellations with some regularity. And the six new sleeping rooms are a very welcome addition, just note that the walls don't go up to the ceiling, so they're more like cubicles than actual rooms.
@clem As far as dining in the lounge, you MUST MUST MUST get the jambon et truffe noire (also known as macaroni with cheese and black truffles). Out of this world good.

Too late now obviously, but if you're a wine fan, keep in mind that the ground offer is likely to be better than the onboard offer; this is the only part of the LP experience that still lags behind competition.
