It states in the terms and conditions that Advanced Purchase rates do not count.

Staying at a Hampton Inn this weekend. Just checked my wife's Hilton Honors Card (no annual fee) offers and she was targeted! Hello $40!

Hey Lucky. This has nothing to do with AMEX or Hilton Honors, rather the Capitol One declining credit card approvals.

Just received, via emili from Cap Onel stating the actual reason for disapproving both mine and my wifes (two seperate applications) for the Capital One Venture Card giving 75K points.

Reason is point blank: "You have opened too many credit cards in the past 24 months, (7).
Am I to assume that Cap One now has a card limit like Chase within a 24 month period?

Prices for Hampton and HGI in my area are such that a 2-night stay is needed to reach $175, but two nights cost $300. It's a good deal but I almost never have 2 night stays.

@Kirk Benson: "Prices for Hampton and HGI in my area are such that a 2-night stay is needed to reach $175, but two nights cost $300. It’s a good deal but I almost never have 2 night stays."

Which makes the fact that you don't have to spend the $175 in a single transaction a really good thing.
