While perhaps arbitrary, one of my ”airline” goals is to review A380 first class on every airline that operates the plane. Prior to last week I had reviewed A380 first class on Emirates, Lufthansa, Malaysia, Qantas, Thai, and Singapore, which leaves Air France, British Airways, Korean Air, and China Southern. I have tickets booked for…

That's really awesome it's possible to book AF F as a non=elite but it seems to me part of the tradeoff is finding a flying blue agent willing to book you that seat as a non-elite! You're lucky that it finally worked on your 8th call. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to reading your trip reports on both flights!

From all accounts AF biz is even worse than BA CW. At least on BA the seats go fully flat. AF still uses angled lie-flats.

Well now that I see the photo, AF looks more like an airport lounge. For a day flight it is OK but for a long night flight, sounds very very expensive. Thanks for spending all of those miles and euros to report to us.

PS why wouldn't you stay an extra day in Germany and visit the Nuernberg market? It is sooo beautiful !!!

@ Jorge -- In retrospect probably should have, though only could find BA availability for a return on Friday, and booked outbound on Air France a day before departure.

@ Lantean -- Not on this particular flight, though I've toured an Air France A380 in the past. Coach looks pretty uncomfortable, to be honest, while business class has angled seats, so isn't especially good either.

How do I search First award space on AF website being a non-elite member?

AF F is sucks, looks nothing like F at all, no privacy, so bare....uhhhh.....compares to BA F, so much better.

so I have a trip planned for April 4, LAX to LHR, I have F on AA but I would love to fly on the A380 on BA, I have been looking and even when they have tons of empty seats on the day of departure they don't release anything., Is this done on purpose?

@ Carlos -- Yeah, they're pretty stingy on that route. It's not unusual to see them not make the seats open even when they're available.

I am headed to Sweden but can't decide BA on F to Heathrow or F A on F to Paris, which would you say is better?

@ James -- All else being equal I'd definitely say Air France is better, especially with the ground services.
