While American and Delta are doing everything they can to grow their market share at LAX, it seems that United has for the most part accepted their third place position among legacy carriers at the airport. That's probably because they have their San Francisco mega-hub only a few hundred miles north. As a result, we've…

I'm in the United Club by gate 70 every week can't wait to checkout the new space. Do you know if the other United Club on the 2nd level near gate 75 will still be open?

Bev,

I think the 2nd level one near Gate 75 is going to turn into the Polaris Lounge when they renovate it according to Matthew's article.

Shoot, I just missed it. I flew out of LAX on the 26th and used the lounge across from gate 71, which is rather small and dark. I'm thrilled about this new lounge and had not heard about it before. I fly to LA once or twice a year to visit family so hopefully I'll be able to check it out sometime soon.

Honestly looks very similar to the ORD lounge in terminal 2. Hopefully this one will be bigger overall and offer a better selection of food.

United lost close to 2% of market share this year and they are continuing to lose market share... Passenger traffic through terminals 7 and 8 (all United) are down around 4% this year compared to last year.

They are not exactly "maintaining" status quo at LAX and their market strength at LAX is slowly shrinking even if they keep the same capacity in 2017 because other airlines are growing at LAX.

Anyway - kudos to UA for investing in LAX and investing in the customer experience at arguably the most competitive airport in the country. Now lets talk about IAD...
