Last year Qatar Airways announced they'd join the OneWorld alliance... well, at least after their CEO did everything on earth to try and deny it. Usually it takes about 12-18 months for an airline to join an alliance from the time that the intention is announced, so I suspect we'll see them join OneWorld sometime…

@ Justin -- Totally agree! Here's to hoping they don't pull an Alaska/Aer Lingus and not display Qatar award space!
Will make AA miles competitive to India when they do join. One stopper to ATQ would be super useful to reach the Punjab.
i really hope BA displays QR awards. I'm going to be in DOH in late November and I'd like to use avios to get to AUH/DXB/MCT for only 4500 points 😉
@lucky: from personal experience, other than DOH/AUH/DXB, is there any city in that area worth seeing? MCT? KWI? BAH?
@ AT -- Haven't been there, but based on what I've heard Muscat and Bahrain are pretty awesome.
I have been eagerly awaiting QR's full entry into Oneworld for a long time. Have been unable to use my American miles to go to Africa because most flights available are only on BA!
@ Mile Adventures -- Yet sadly this only helps if you're booking an Explorer award, since American doesn't let you route from the US to Africa via Middle East.
