After clearing customs we headed over to terminal seven via the AirTrain, which only took a few minutes. I’ve flown out of terminal seven many times (which is shared by British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Qantas, United, and US Airways), though I’ve never seen it this crowded. Ah, people from white countries can get away with that...

With regards to the seat switching, I wouldn't have even explained, I'd have just said as nicely as possible "No, sorry, I'm happy with my current seat" and left it at that.

That sounds like the JFK I know...I unfortunately fly out of T7 frequently as a UA flyer. I've never seen the BA First line that long though in almost a decade.
