With regards to the seat switching, I wouldn't have even explained, I'd have just said as nicely as possible "No, sorry, I'm happy with my current seat" and left it at that.
That sounds like the JFK I know...I unfortunately fly out of T7 frequently as a UA flyer. I've never seen the BA First line that long though in almost a decade.
They could have used some of that stimulus money to upgrade JFK. I avoid it as much as I can
