Too little too late. And majority of Americans don’t have the money to travel to such places. AA will only circle the drain faster. AA is gonna look like jet blue in about 2 years or so.

AA has basically conceded the west coast to United and Delta.
AA can't really expand in LAX until the T5 renovation is completed in 2028. They're currently at full capacity operating in T4 and some of TBIT.

True, for sure. However, most of us outside of Iceland tend to realize that KEF is Keflavik but know that we are really using the airport to get to Reykjavik. It's not at all uncommon to refer to "flying to Reykjavik" knowing full well that the airport is KEF. Even Icelandair allows you to specify Reykjavik (but puts *Keflavik Int'l Airport in parentheses). So, i doubt Ben or anyone else meant the Reykjavik domestic airport.

Maybe the flight to Iceland will be a morning flight so it doesn't need the lie flats? The XLR still would have been nice though for about a 6 hour flight
The problem is that Iceland sits in an awkward spot geographically. Most daytime flights would end up arriving at night. A theoretical 10am departure still arrives at 8pm. Even with the short turnaround of a narrowbody, you're probably flying back around 10pm, arriving midnight in the US. That's not a very desirable return flight schedule wise.
Just creates too many drawbacks, losing out on domestic connections or having to overnight the plane at KEF. KEF simply isn't large enough demand to support point to point daytime flights.

I don't think there's a lot of flyers outside PHL. And I don't think Austrians care about NHL either.
Recall it was Continental that started flying narrow-body aircraft to lesser known destinations. It's an option appreciated by me who is interested in avoiding the crowds and crush. Just returned from Porto on UA - unfortunately via EWR - always a problem.

Yeah, that's a good point. AA has battled the airport and UA over ORD gate reallocation, but to what end for ORD passengers? If they really want to be competitive, their apparent lack of interest in such a big market doesn't seem like a good way to achieve that goal.
Honestly, what's the point of doing these just for the spring/summer months? With Europe increasingly roasting in the summer, you have people visiting well into the fall and even winter months. Americans' hunger for European destinations is a year round thing, especially as more and more tire of the nonstop political chaos here.
