Alaska Airlines 737 Hits Bear On Landing In Yakutat

It definitely looks like a longer repair

Sad.
But on a lighter note - was this plane painted in Alaska's famous Salmon livery?

If the damage is mostly the engine Alaska could probably just fly in replacement engine, hence a few days.

Horrible hope more is done to protect things like this happening in the future, like why does the airport only have a partially closed fence???????

It would seem that in the best interest of airport security, wildlife protection and safety of air passengers, perhaps this airport should have a fully enclosed electric fence.

@ No Name They'll bore scope the engine for any internal damage just to be safe, swap out the fan cowl and nose cowl. If nothing else wouldn't be surprised if this isn't up and flying again in a couple days if parts available. We had a guy taxi over an alligator at FLL

Well, AS is retiring the 73G's, but it's not like they are going to leave one in YAK.

I remember when the 73G's were new and I was happy to get one, with new leather seats, between SEA and the Bay Area in college.

Bottom line ALSO : Great job by AS operations teams . . . .

And maybe someone should put that bear in the middle of the DOH airport terminal and steal the yellow one.
