Flying Blue is delaying until December 1, 2026 its 50% higher cost for earning XPs through SAF and mileage donations, after a rollout that caught members off guard.

Didn't affect me, personally, but at least they're trying to better address the lack of notice. Will this slight delay make a meaningful difference for those of you this did impact?

I have two trips later this month where I would normally buy some SAF, but would only buy on the day of travel (in case plans change).

I buy SAF for two reasons: (a) a little bit of environmental feel-good for the travel I'm making, and (b) a relatively cheap way of adding a few UXP.

So short term, the reversal helps - longer term a 50%+ increase makes SAF no longer cheap...

Didn't they do the same with thing with some devaluation last year which was only discovered by flyertalk members, explained away as an error and came back with proper comms a couple of weeks later? If nothing else, that goes to show there's consistency in how the programme is run regardless of which manager's responsible for it.

The secrets are always the same - give some advance notice, over-communicate, don't be patronizing ("our customers asked for this...") and just tell it like it is. Flying Blue didn't do that, and now they did. Kudos to Tiffany for rectifying a small mistake, but a mistake nonetheless.

Agreed.

FB lucked out with Tiffany.

The hallmark of any top organization isn't that they don't make mistakes, it's how they *handle* the mistakes. Ben Smith has done a great job with AF, and with FB adding Tiffany, they continue this trajectory.

Can I lock in the 10 eur/xp rate if I pay now for a flight in January?

Would've been better to roll it out like this originally.

Um. Yeah. Great insight.

"We didn’t handle the rollout well, and the new rate went live with unclear messaging and without notice."

That's pretty much what Ms. Funk copped to in her candid update.
