Both American Express and Chase have awesome programs (known as Amex Offers and Chase Offers) that offer savings when making purchases with select retailers.
Chase Offers is much newer, and the number of good offers from them has increased significantly over the past few months, in particular for hotel stays.
If you only have Chase personal cards then you can see these through the regular Chase website (at the bottom left of your account summary page), while if you have a mix of personal and business cards, you may only be able to see these through the Chase mobile app.
With the latest targeted Chase Offers deal for hotel stays, you can save 10% with Hilton.
There are some restrictions to be aware of:
- Valid through June 30, 2019 (this is a fairly short window)
- Valid for stays at Hilton, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Canopy by Hilton, Curio Collection, Embassy Suites, DoubleTree, and Tapestry Collection
- You need to spend a minimum of $200 to receive 10% back, and can receive a maximum of $50 cash back, which equates to $500 worth of spending
- Only valid for a single stay
- Not valid on third party bookings
- The statement credit should post within 14 days of the transaction
Like all Chase Offers, this one is targeted.
What I love about Chase Offers is that the hotel bonuses aren’t limited to US stays, and also that you can earn the bonus on multiple cards.
The ideal situation is that you see this offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, as those cards offer 3x and 2x Ultimate Rewards points per dollar spent at hotels, respectively. See this post for more details on the best credit cards to use for hotel stays.
This can be combined with virtually any other promotion Hilton is offering, including their current global promotion valid through September 8, 2019.
What I find especially interesting here is that so far the Chase Offers we’ve seen for hotel stays have mostly been for Hyatt, IHG, and Marriott, since Chase also issues co-brand credit cards for those hotels.
This time we’re seeing an offer for Hilton, and their co-brand credit cards are issued by Amex.
Bottom line
I’m thrilled to see Chase Offers continue to add useful deals for hotel stays. It really is pretty awesome just how many deals you can stack nowadays to get a great return on your hotel stays.
It’s cool to see an offer for Hilton, given that Chase doesn’t have a co-brand Hilton credit card. If you’re going to use this offer, do so strategically. The promotion is valid for a single stay and you get 10% back on $200-500 of spending, so if you have multiple stays, try to use this for a stay that’s as expensive as possible (up to the limit).
For example, I’ve saved over $60 in the past couple of months through the Chase Offers deal for Hyatt stays, and I’ll probably get value out of this one as well.
Do you see this Hilton 10% offer on any of your Chase cards, and do you plan to use it?
(Tip of the hat to Frequent Miler)
I have a 5% back on $225+ spend, capped at $25 cash back
I got the 5% deal. I assume it’s not good for pre-paying for a stay in August
Spend an extra $100! You’ll save more!
Seems like odd advice.
I got 5% back on a stay of $225. Not sure if that’s even worth it I’d you have a Hilton Amex.
It would be interesting to know if buying GCs on Chase offers (obviously not this one) would trigger the savings. I seem to be getting a bunch for Walgreens, Rite Aid, etc.
These offers are targeted based on past purchase history. If you have used a Chase card at a Marriott hotel for example, then you may be targeted for a Hilton or Hyatt offer. If you have used your card with a Hampton Inn than you may be targeted for an IHG offer. It works the same way with restaurants and other offers. This is why cards that are used infrequently have limited offers while cards that are used frequently have many offers. In addition, once you frequent a merchant once and then haven't used the card in a while you may receive another offer but with a lower rate of return. For instance, Starbucks offers usually start at 10% but once you have used it once, you will find most new Starbucks offers being only 5%. Perhaps if you show significant usage at a competitor the offer may be higher again.
Sadly, I don't get offers on my Chase Sapphire Reserve for hotels because almost all of my hotel stays are either using points, using the Citi Prestige 4th night free, or the Hilton Aspire where the resort credit and/or 14X points far outweighs the Sapphire's earning potential. However, once the Prestige 4th night free ends, I will likely start moving more of my hotel stays to the Sapphire Reserve in which case perhaps I will be targeted for more of these hotel offers.
"Made you look!" - none of my Chase cards have this... (checked app). My Amex Hilton doesn't have one right now either but I usually got them in the past.
