For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings offers. In many cases the savings can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card. Amex Offers is a reason to always have as many Amex cards as possible, in my opinion.
To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. Most of these offers are for a discount when you spend a certain amount with a retailer, and registration is required. Over the years I’ve saved thousands of dollars with Amex Offers.
At the moment there’s a new targeted Amex Offer for 2,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend at least $100 with Best Western. The offer is valid if you register and pay for your stay between June 23 and August 23, 2017 (the stay could fall on dates outside that window, as long as it’s a pre-paid rate that’s charged during the promotion period). Stays at Best Western branded properties in the US, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands are eligible.
Personally I value Membership Rewards points at ~1.7 cents each, so to me that’s a ~$34 return on a $100 purchase, which is fantastic. Given that many Best Western properties are quite inexpensive to begin with, this is a very nice return, especially as Best Western properties are popular with many people taking summer road trips.
Furthermore, keep in mind that Best Western has a summer promotion at the moment, offering a $10 Travel Card every night you stay through September 4, 2017. Furthermore, if you’re a AAA member, you get a $20 Travel Card per night. That would be in addition to the Amex Offers promotion.
Were you targeted for this Amex Offers promotion, and if so, do you plan on taking advantage of it?
