For those of you not familiar with Amex Offers, it’s a program available through most Amex cards, where different cards are eligible for different savings and bonus offers. In many cases the offers can be huge, and more than offset the annual fee on a card.
To view Amex Offers, go to the bottom of the account summary page of any American Express card, where you’ll see all the offers you’re eligible for. These offers come in different forms, including discounts and even in some cases bonus points. We just saw a new targeted Amex Offer rolled out for a popular retailer, which I think is worth highlighting.
With this new, targeted Amex Offer, you can earn 3,000 bonus Membership Rewards points after spending $300+ with Best Buy in the US by September 17, 2018.
You can reach that spend over one or more eligible transactions, and transactions either in store or online qualify.
I value Membership Rewards points at 1.7 cents each, so to me the 3,000 bonus points are worth $51, which means this offer is the equivalent of about 17% off. Note that there’s another version of the offer out there for $30 back when you spend $300+, though I wouldn’t consider that offer to be even nearly as good, since one Membership Rewards point is worth significantly more than one cent.
With the cost of many electronics fixed regardless of where you buy, going through Best Buy in conjunction with this offer could be a no brainer.
Keep in mind that you can potentially stack this with other promotions as well. For example, earlier I wrote about how the AAdvantage eShopping Portal is offering 1,500 bonus American miles when you spend at least $350 by July 27, 2018. Best Buy is an eligible retailer, and you earn an extra one mile per dollar for going through there.
If you take advantage of both of these offers, that means if you spend $350 with Best Buy you’d earn 3,000 Membership Rewards points, 1,850 American miles (1,500 bonus miles plus 350 base miles), plus whatever miles you earn for credit card spend. Those are some pretty substantial savings.
Does anyone plan on taking advantage of this Best Buy Amex Offer?
