Earn 15K Bonus Points With Air Canada
At the moment there’s a great new targeted offer on airfare. Specifically, there’s an Amex Offer for 15,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $750+ in one or more transactions with Air Canada by December 18, 2019.
In order to be eligible, you need to book on Air Canada’s US website or through the Air Canada app, and your travel needs to be charged in USD.
The promotion excludes gift cards, e-gift cards, group bookings, hotels, car rentals, and Air Canada Vacations packages. It’s also not valid for purchases through Air Canada Cargo, Air Canada Jetz, partner sites, agents, affiliates, and third parties that link to/from aircanada.com.
This promotion is targeted. It’s not as widely targeted as some offers (sometimes I see offers on almost all of my cards), but rather in this case I just see it on just a couple of my cards. There seem to be a few versions of the offer out there, including:
- 15,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $750+
- 20,000 bonus Membership Rewards points when you spend $1,000+
- $150 statement credit when you spend $750+
- $200 statement credit when you spend $1,000+
Personally I think the deals for bonus points are much better. That’s because I value Membership Rewards points at 1.7 cents each, so you get 70% more value that way than through the statement credit version of the offer.
This is a great way to earn bonus points for Air Canada flights
Bottom Line
If you’re planning on booking an Air Canada revenue ticket anytime soon, this is a great opportunity to earn bonus points on a ticket.
If you were targeted, do you plan on taking advantage of this Amex Offer?
Rec'd offer for 15,000 Aeroplan for $750+ spend on my personal Plat. Question: Does anyone know if you can pay for award fuel surcharges on an Aeroplan award ticket with a AirCanada eGift card? I can't see anything in the T&C. Thanks, -Rick
@Cangeer, we don’t even have East Side Mario’s on the west coast!
The only thing good about a Canadian Gold Rewards card is that for travel we get 2 points per $1 Cdn peso. (Or about 2.6 points per USD). That of course sucks compared with 5 points per USD for US cards).
@Canadian Platinum
Hey there was that one time we got an East Side Mario's offer. Blessed.
Not available to Canadian AMEX card holders.
AMEX Offers in Canada are pretty much useless.
AMEX card benefits are pitiful compared to US issued AMEX cards.
20k bonus for $1000 in spend on my personal Platinum. I also saw a new Bonvoy offer for $60 off of a $300 booking.
For those who have taken advantage of the airline bonuses previously, am I correct in thinking that I only need to have the spend post before the end of the year, and the travel could take place next year? I don't think Amex particularly cares when the flights take place.
Wasn't targeted on personal: Gold, HH Ascend, Hilton Aspire, or Bonvoy Brilliant.
Thank you, Lucky, for sharing this. The wife and I are planning a trip to Vancouver for Xmas. This deal was right on time. I found two decently priced round trip tickets from LA.
Darn! Nothing on my both cards (Amex and hilton!)
