We’ve known for quite some time that Chase is getting into the airport lounge game, with the opening of Chase Sapphire Lounges by the Club. The first location opened in Hong Kong in late 2022, and we’ve now seen the first location in the United States open, which is exciting.

Basics of the Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston Logan Airport
Today (Tuesday, May 16, 2023), the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club has opened at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). The Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston is 11,640 square feet, and as it’s described, the lounge “highlights the history and identity of Boston while bringing the vibrancy of the Sapphire Reserve customer to life.”
The lounge is located in the Terminal B to C Connector, between gates B39 and B40. It’s open daily from 5AM until 11PM.
The lounge features a locally inspired dining experience, including menu items from Boston Chef Douglass Williams (of Boston’s MIDA and APIZZA), a signature taproom offering local craft beer, and coffee from Beverly, Massachusetts Atomic Coffee Roasters. The lounge also features a centerpiece bar, with wine and cocktails, as well as made-to-order and ready-to-eat food options.
The lounge has distinct areas for recharging, including two wellness rooms with anti-gravity massage chairs and guided meditation, a private nursing suite, two dual-head shower rooms, and all-gender restrooms with Apotheke products.

Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston entry requirements
Here’s an interesting plot twist. When Chase Sapphire Lounges were first announced, we believed that these would be standard Priority Pass lounges. That was a bit confusing to me:
- That wouldn’t actually give any advantage to those with the Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card (review) vs. other premium cards, like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card (review) (Rates & Fees) and The Platinum Card® from American Express (review)
- These lounges would be ridiculously crowded, given that they’d be better than your typical Priority Pass lounge, and they’re not particularly large
Well, as it turns out, access requirements for Chase Sapphire Lounges are a bit different than expected. The Chase Sapphire Lounge Hong Kong is a standard Priority Pass lounge, so it’s open to all Priority Pass members without major restrictions.
However, the Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston (and all future Chase Sapphire Lounges in the United States) have different entry requirements. This is presumably due to how many people in the United States have Priority Pass memberships, which would lead to overcrowding. Here are the restrictions to be aware of:
- Those with a Priority Pass membership through the Chase Sapphire Reserve can access the lounge an unlimited number of times, with up to two complimentary guests; this also applies to those with the Ritz-Carlton Credit Card, which is no longer open to new applicants
- Those with a Priority Pass membership issued through any other means can access any Chase Sapphire Lounge in the United States once per calendar year at no additional cost (that’s one visit across all lounges, not per lounge), and guests aren’t complimentary; subsequent visits, as well as guests, will be charged an entry fee of $75
- If you don’t have a Priority Pass membership, you can outright buy access to the lounge for $100 per person per visit, subject to availability
- Chase Sapphire Lounges are only accessible within three hours of departure, unless you’re connecting, in which case you can access it earlier
These restrictions are smart on Chase’s part, since they actually make these lounges more of an exclusive perk for the company’s cardmembers, rather than just something for any Priority Pass member.
I do think there will be an uphill battle for those working the lounge to educate the public, since this is the first time we’ve seen a restriction like this with Priority Pass.
The Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston looks great!
I have to say, the first Chase Sapphire Lounge in the United States looks much better than I was expecting. That’s for a couple of reasons.
First of all, I’m happy to see that this won’t just be a standard Priority Pass lounge, since the lounge would probably consistently have a line out the door. I think the entry restrictions are smart. All Priority Pass members can visit the lounge once per year to see what they’re missing, while this is otherwise reserved as a perk for Chase’s cardmembers.
Second of all, and probably because of that first point, this lounge looks much higher quality than I was expecting. The decor looks beautiful, the amenities sound great, and the food and beverage selection sound like they’ll be much better than I would have anticipated.
That being said, it doesn’t sound like the lounge will have some of the over-the-top amenities you might find in the Capital One Lounge DFW, for example, like grab & go food, barista-made coffee, cold brew on tap, an exercise room, etc.
I’m really excited to check out this lounge, and to see the portfolio grow.
Bottom line
The Chase Sapphire Lounge Boston has opened as of May 16, and looks fantastic. The lounge has an extensive food and drink selection, cool amenities, and nice decor. The lounge access requirements also aren’t exactly what we expected, as the lounge is primarily open to Priority Pass members with the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Has anybody had a flight from terminal A and been able to visit the lounge? I’ve been there previously but departing from B. Would I be able to get through security with an A boarding pass?
They would not let us leave A to go over to B/C.
Just hiked 10-15 minutes to check out this lounge quickly before my flight and they don’t have any to go cups for coffee so I could not enjoy any benefits. The person at the front desk cited some corporate BS about “saving the planet” but this is so cheap on the part of Chase I am tempted to changed to the Amex. Embarrassing.
Visited for the first time today and it is lovely. Excellent service and beverage options. And my breakfast was great. This does not feel like a U.S. lounge in the best way. I hope it stays like this and does not become an overcrowded PP mess.
I was at the lounge today and connecting flights are still subject to the three hour restriction. Meaning if your connecting flight is not within three hours; you cannot access the Chase Sapphire Lounge b

Boston is my home airport, and I’m about to apply for a CSR, so this is good news…but most of my flights are out of Terminal E, so the location is not that convenient. We shall see. Does anyone know if this lounge will be available to those of us who are arriving and not taking a connecting flight? I am flying into Logan in September and then meeting a friend who is arriving almost 3 hours later. I will have almost 3 hours of time to kill and would love to access this new lounge if allowed.
Just buy a fully refundable ticket that is three hours before your friends arrival then cancel it an hour prior to boarding.
I’m in Dallas and I got the Capital X. I just got the preferred 90k sign on bonus, but I don’t see this being too important for me. I’ll downgrade my preferred after transferring. Not enough value unless you live in Boston or a future Chase lounge city.
It makes sense that you keep C1VX since you live in Dallas. C1 hates me. I got declined twice and gave up. Luckily, I don't live in Dallas.
The B/C connector used to be landside, but I haven't walked through it in years - is there any info if the lounge will be access airside or landside?

Looks great and the actual experience could be far different. I am unclear why they are using the priority pass entry. Why not just accept it through Chase's premium cards instead similar to Amex for their lounges or Delta with Platinum. And given the pricing to access priority pass lounges I guess many may actually pay.
Because money. (And marketing for their own card).
Ben - VFTW reports it is one visit a year to ANY Chase lounge not one visit a year to each. I have the CSR so am covered and frankly glad this will be restricted to other PP members
The biggest downside to this is that Terminal B is primarily AA and it's not a Boston hub so it's the least populated of the 4 terminals. A is Delta, C is JetBlue, and E is international. I would never go that far out of my way just to frequent a lounge. I'll stick to the Delta and PP lounges in A and C.
Or one could say an upside in that hopefully this lounge won't be slammed all the time and a big plus for United, Air Canada and American fliers - even B6 if departing out of that gate area.

Stupid for require using a Chase PP membership rather than just the credit card.
Now I have to get one more PP card just to use this. Then have to keep track which card is from where.
So now rather than carrying PP from another bank, Chase my 100+ annual visits will now be billed to you.

Same thing, using the digital card isn't the problem.
The figuring out which digital card is from which bank is the hard part.
I have 4 PP card, one from Ritz and 3 from Amex. The only digital one that I keep on my phone is from Ritz so I don't get confused. The other lounges like Plaza or Centurion require the physical Platinum anyway.
I only carry the Ritz issued PP card. Why carry and use the Amex PP cards?
Any idea if there is an X hour prior to departure time limit or restricted access on arrival? Haven't seen anything to that regard.

A connecting flight does not waive the three hour restriction. I tried to access the lounge today with a 5 hour connection. They explained that I had to come back when my connecting flight was within three hours of departure.
How about opening it up to anyone who has a Chase credit card & wants to spend money there? Most businesses who want to stay in business don't have a problem with that.
How about JP Morgan Ritz Carlton's Priority Pass?

My last trip through Logan, I hiked the considerable distance to each of the Priority Pass lounges and all of them were either restricted at that hour to their own airline customers, full to capacity, or with a line down the hall. I'm happy that Logan will finally have a lounge that my CSR card will admit me to.
Smart to have an all-gender restroom. This is good future-proofing, as we have no way of knowing how many new genders will be invented in the coming years.

Agreed, why make it more difficult than it needs to be. Plus this is pre security? That’s a big turnoff for me.
This is NOT pre security. It's in the B-C Connector, which is within security. This connector opened up last August, so if you havent been there since it's nice and new.

once per calendar year seems a bit extreme, as i have the chase sapphire preferred and priority pass via amex platinum card. 3 times a year seems more reasonable, but at once per year it doesnt make sense to get too excited about this honestly...
@ Michael -- But I think the whole goal is to encourage people to get the Sapphire Reserve if they want access to this lounge, to create a competitive advantage, like Amex and Capital One are doing with their lounges.
I sort of wish they would offer a bit of a discount for those with the CSP, like if you have the card you can pay for access for twenty or thirty bucks.
People with Amex Gold card do not get access or discounted access to Centurion lounges - so it seems pretty equal to Amex's policies.
OTOH the Capital One lounges which offer unlimited access for Venture X cardholders and two visits per year for Venture cardholders.
The Amex Gold used to allow the Centurion lounge access for $50, however this was abolished a few years ago. It was one of the reasons I cancelled my Gold card.
What if you have multiple priority pass cards/accoujnts from multiple credit cards? Will they track your name or card swipes? If swipes you might be able to access more than once a year with multiple cards

I use the signature space on the back of the PP cards to write which issuer they came from.

year end articles from 2022 indicated summer 2023. Given how slow the progress is in Denver my guess is so early than end of July
