Singapore Airlines’ Flight To Seattle Is Now Bookable (And There Are Awards)

8

As I wrote about last week, Singapore Airlines will be launching flights between Singapore and Seattle as of September 3, 2019. The airline will operate the route 3x weekly initially, though will increase frequencies to 4x weekly as of October 2019.

Singapore Airlines will use an A350-900 for the route, featuring 253 seats, including 42 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 187 economy seats.

The schedule for this new 8,070 mile flight will be as follows:

SQ28 Singapore to Seattle departing 9:25AM arriving 9:05AM
SQ27 Seattle to Singapore departing 10:40AM arriving 5:30PM (+1 day)

As expected, this new flight went on sale today, meaning you can now book your ticket nonstop between Seattle and Singapore.

If you’re looking to redeem miles, there’s some great news. Singapore Airlines has solid award availability in all three cabins on the route, including in business class. The catch is that as of now the schedule is just open through late October, so there’s a fairly limited window during which you can book. However, as time passes the schedule will open up further.

One-way redemption rates are as follows (and there are no carrier imposed surcharges, so you’d just pay the taxes and fees in addition to the miles):

  • Business: 88,000 miles
  • Premium economy: 65,000 miles
  • Economy: 38,000 miles

While Singapore Airlines is part of the Star Alliance, they generally only release premium cabin award seats on longhaul flights to members of their own frequent flyer program, so you’ll need to have KrisFlyer miles to book this.

The good news is that KrisFlyer is transfer partners with Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou, so there are lots of easy ways to earn miles with them.

I have to give Singapore Airlines credit for the amount of award space they’ve been opening up on their own flights lately. They’ve also had a good amount of business class award space for travel on their other nonstop flights to Singapore, from Los Angeles, Newark, and San Francisco.

Given how easily accessible these miles are thanks to transferable points currencies, that’s pretty awesome, if you ask me.

Anyone plan to take Singapore Airlines’ new flight to Seattle?

@Waqar, if you include this month (Nov 2018), then Oct 2019 is the 12th month. So it's a year's worth of schedules/fares/data.

    >I think theres a typo where you have written ‘the schedule is loaded until late October’. If these >seats are bookable through Oct 2019, that’s standard for airlines

Most airlines load 330 days in advance, or 11 months...so Lucky is correct.

I think theres a typo where you have written 'the schedule is loaded until late October'. If these seats are bookable through Oct 2019, that's standard for airlines to load a year's worth of flights onto the system. I think you mean late November?

Q: Any idea when Alaska award charts for Singapore Airlines will be available?

A: Sometime before the next millennium.

Are these awards on long haul SQ flights in Y not available with any partners? Just checked UA and AC and did not find any.
