Up To Triple Etihad Guest Miles For First Class Bookings

While Etihad Guest isn’t the most lucrative frequent flyer program in the world, they do have a generous promotion for paid first and business class bookings.

They’re offering double miles for paid business class bookings and triple miles for paid first class bookings. In order to be eligible you need to book between August 12 and August 31, 2014, for travel between August 20 and September 25, 2014. Registration is required.

It’s a fairly narrow travel window and previously booked travel doesn’t qualify, though it has the potential to be quite lucrative.

Etihad Guest has generous premium cabin mileage earning rates to begin with, of up to 175% for business class and up to 400% for first class:

The cool thing is that they’re offering double and triple miles on the total miles earned, and not just base miles. For example, say you fly roundtrip first class between New York and Abu Dhabi in first class (the “F” fare class, in this case), It’s about 14,000 miles roundtrip, and ordinarily you’d earn 250% of that, so ~35,000 miles. During this promotion you’d earn triple miles, so a total of ~105,000 miles roundtrip.

That’s a pretty generous promotion, especially since it’s valid on all routes on Etihad worldwide, and isn’t targeted.

The full terms read as follows:

*Terms and conditions apply. This offer is exclusive to Etihad Guest members only. Bonus Miles promotion is only valid for flights booked between 12 August and 31 August for travel between 20 August and 25 September 2014. Registration of your Etihad Guest number is mandatory to receive the bonus miles. Triple miles can be earned in First and double miles in Business Class to all destinations. The bonus miles earned will depend on the fare class booked. The bonus miles will be offered only on Etihad operated flights and not redemption flights. The bonus miles earned will be Etihad Guest Miles and not tier miles. The bonus miles will be credited for every eligible flight flown during the promotion period. The bonus miles will be credited within two weeks after the promotion ends. This promotion is not valid for SuperSeller members.

  1. But what are the cheapest routes? Doesn’t seem like it would end up being lucrative but thanks for sharing.

  2. @ Lantean — Not all that much. Definitely not worth mileage running for this, but more just worth picking up if you’re flying Etihad in paid first/business anyway.

  3. @ Nemme — Right, not something worth mileage running for, but rather only worth taking advantage of if you’d fly them in first or business anyway.

  4. Hi Ben

I am having trouble finding LAX to AUH for early 2015, do they open up last minute availability?

  5. @ danny — They often do, though award availability in advance definitely isn’t what it once was.

  6. @ Lucky – you should look into booking a dozen or two of RT trips in F to earn enough miles for The Residence redemption! šŸ˜‰
