In the last installment I reviewed the Singapore Airlines first class lounge that I had access to, and in this installment I wanted to look at the Singapore Airlines business class lounge, which can be accessed by Star Alliance business class and Star Alliance Gold passengers. I’d note that the Air New Zealand lounge is next door, and can also be accessed by Star Alliance business class and Star Alliance Gold passengers.
The entrance to the business class lounge is to the left of the reception desk.
Immediately by the entrance is a small room with a dozen seats, which basically seems to be overflow seating.

Then there’s an entryway leading into the main part of the lounge.

The main part of the lounge is just a single big room that’s split into a couple of areas — one for relaxing, the other for eating.

There were some magazines and newspapers near the entrance.

Inside the entrance and to the left are some seats arranged along the wall, and then also some semi-private seats, similar to what they have in the first class lounge.

Then there are dozens of seats in a pretty boring/predictable layout. There are no privacy partitions of any sort, and there’s no variation in the design, which I find to be a bit boring.

Along the windows are a few seats with coffee tables, as well as some communal tables.

Much like the first class lounge, the business class lounge has great views of the apron and runway.

Also in this area is a really random couch that doesn’t otherwise seem to fit into the design of the lounge. I found it really strange, especially for an airline as focused on design as Singapore Airlines.

There were many dining tables along the interior of the lounge — some tables had two chairs, while others had one chair and then a bench.

The buffet was along the interior of the lounge, near the entrance. The setup looked almost identical to what was available in the first class lounge, except here there was no a la carte dining.

Below are some pictures of the breakfast selection. I didn’t come back to check out the lunch selection, but I imagine that changed in a similar way to what I saw in the first class lounge.

The drink selection was also set up similarly to what I saw in the first class lounge, though the selection differed. There was a coffee machine and tea selection.

The liquor selection was lower end than in the first class lounge (for example, Gordon’s gin rather than Bombay Sapphire gin).

The wine selection was also a bit lower end. For example, rather than serving Veuve Clicquot they served Aubert Et Fils.

Singapore Airlines business class lounge Sydney bottom line
The Singapore Airlines lounge Sydney is alright. Personally I find the decor to be uninspiring (especially in comparison to Cathay Pacific’s outstation lounges, for example), and the lounge doesn’t really have any noteworthy features. I also imagine this lounge would get quite full before an A380 departure, as it’s not that big.
Personally I’d far prefer going to the Air New Zealand Lounge next door, which has virtually the same access requirements. These days there are so many ways to gain airport lounge benefits, that it makes lounge-hopping a good way to pass a layover.
I rather enjoyed this lounge while I was awaiting my mid-morning UA flight to LAX. I had been to the Air NZ lounge, was uninspired by its soulless decor and generic breakfast, so went to the SQ lounge. I shared my impressions and plans with the Air NZ man at the door. He predicted I'd be back after checking out SQ. Wrong! I initially had the place almost to myself, and one of the staffers...

He predicted I'd be back after checking out SQ. Wrong! I initially had the place almost to myself, and one of the staffers said he could make me a better coffee than the one in the machine. Correct! Actually, hats off to the friendly folks there. OK, the decor isn't super cool, but that doesn't matter to me. I maxed out on lychees (barely visible in one of the photos) and other Asian items, as well as toast and cereal. Great stuff. It got a little busier after an hour or 2, but not by much. I guess everyone was drinking the Air NZ Kool-Aid.
Hi, is the access is next to the SQ F lounge?
Ben - these have been great reports, when will you finish the set? We are in a holding pattern over the SQ Business Lounge in SYD.
The ideal business flight would be CX lounges coupled with SQ J class!
Singapore airlines’ lounges are generally pretty disappointing. Especially when you consider that Sydney features their new design lounge with the ‘home away from home’ concept - though I’d like to know which home features seating in rows and back to back. I don’t understand why this airline insists on operating its own lousy lounges outstation ( eg Melbourne, Hong Kong, Perth) when they could easily use the usually better star alliance lounges.
A clue to your couch mystery might be the high chair and colourful plastic stools...
T2 tea is nice but coffee from a machine is very sub-par.
What I found most frustrating is that the food here was better than food at their flagship lounge at Changi!!!
Also I found the service to be more attentive in the First Class Lounge than in your review. Maybe it just depends on staff on that day.
Totally agree with your assessment. I was there last week and the New Zealand lounge I found way superior. Decor, food, and coffee all better. There was something depressing about the Singapore lounge which surprised me.
