Service Complaint – Is This an Appropriate Response?
Greetings and Salutations-
Long story short as short as I can make it — flying business from BKK to LAX on Cathay/American and then self-booked back to Denver. Due to mechanicals, we are two hours late from BKK to HKG but assured that all transfers have been protected. Arrive to learn I have already been re-booked HKG to LAX at midnight which is a problem as I will miss my connection home. Cathay staff says they will radio ahead to AA that I am on my way to the gate. Run to AA gate and arrive at 6:15 for 6:40pm departure but told b/c I am outside the 40 minute window, AA has canceled my reservation although other passengers are still boarding. Cathay does not assist, American is indifferent. I am not allowed to board. Cathay finally re-books me for the following morning, puts me up at HKG for the night. On HKG to SFO, my seat looks like this!! Business is checked in full, so no place to move.
I sent detailed complaint letters to both AA and Cathay. I am curious as to what Lucky and others would expect/accept in the form of explanation/compensation. Thank you.
Hi Boulderite, could you reattach your photos? None of your links work. Thanks!

I think I have fixed it.
Was that all the damage? Just slightly frayed sections of the seat?
I dont see what the problem is…. the seat is worn, just like every other non brand new plane.
Were you not checked into the AA HKG-LAX flight? If you were and had a boarding pass you should have been allowed to board once you reached the gate. I dont see why you weren’t checked in to both flights at BKK.
Seats are going to be worn – your photos of the seat dont make it look too bad. I wouldn’t mention the seat unless there was something mechanically wrong or overly dirty/worn or if there was a problem with the IFE that couldnt be fixed.
