Korean Air Kosmo Suites 2.0: B777-300ER vs B747-8i
Hi everyone,
Korean seems to be announcing on their homepage that flights to/from Seattle will now feature the Kosmo Suites 2.0; since the aircraft is still showing as a B777, I’m assuming it’s the newly fitted B777-300ER (as opposed to the B747-8i).
We had been planning to position from SEA to SFO to get the Kosmo Suites 2.0 on the B747-8i. Obviously leaving straight out of Seattle is more convenient. Any pros/cons to the B777-300ER and the B747-8i, assuming both have the Kosmo Suites 2.0?
There will be 2 of us traveling together — I’m wondering if the B777-300ER might actually be better for us so we can sit in the middle and visit together. True?
I look forward to your thoughts. Happy to position to SFO if the B747-8i experience is better than the B777-300ER.
Thanks,
Todd
Hmmm, the buzz is that SEA will still be a 772, but refitted. If you can confirm it will have the new product, I’d change.
The 748i is nice, but isn’t great for couples wanting to talk, so pros and cons there.

Hi Tiffany! Thanks so much, as always, for your reply. I think I’ve done everything I can to confirm it is indeed the 777-300ER. First, the home page has a slide that announces “Brand new aircraft, brand new seats — Flying from Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Seattle.” When you click through, all of the info is about the Kosmo Suites 2.0.
Also, I created a booking (up through payment) and when it came time to select seats, the seat map linked to the 277-seat version of the B777-300ER, and the actual seats you could select in Prestige Class used a map of 7 rows of 7 seats.
From what I can tell, all of this identifies the plane as the B777-300ER with the Kosmo Suites 2.0. Could you double-check me?
Even if it were a B777-200 refitted with these new suites, would that be a bad thing?
Finally, there’s a bit of a cloud hanging over this for me. It looks like as of October 30, 2016 the aircraft reverts to the B777-200ER. I’m hoping that this is just because they haven’t updated the aircraft info past that date — I don’t think it’s seasonal because the flights *now* are using the B777-300ER, and the flights a year from now (minus a week) are on the B777-200ER. I emailed Ben about this and he too is optimistic it’s just because they haven’t updated the schedule beyond October 29.
Really looking forward to your thoughts — I definitely don’t want to be wrong in thinking Seattle is finally getting an airlines’s premium seating! 🙂 (Otherwise we’d have to position to SFO for the B747-8i.)
Thanks very much,
Todd

Hi Tiffany,
Just hoping you’ll be able to reply to my comments/questions following your reply to my original post… I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks very much,
Todd
It sounds like you’ve researched pretty thoroughly, and I’d have come to the same conclusion. If Ben thinks it’s just a lag in the schedule getting updated, I’d probably trust him!
