JAL Business vs AA First
I’m wondering if you can give me some advice…my husband and I have to return from Asia to LAX next year around July 15 (+-1day) and am faced with the choice of NRT-SAN on JL66 in J or pay more miles on F with AA 71. In your opinion, is the premium to pay more miles to F class (but AA) worth it? Can you give your thoughts about flight JL 66? If there are other available routings (better airline with little YQ), I’d appreciate any tips…thank you so much in advance and more power to your blog!

Hi Lucky. I had a question on what you would prefer. I am going to fly from ICN to LAX with my girlfriend and was looking at award availability. I found 2 first class on AA from ICN-DFW-LAX on AA First 777-200 (old) or ICN-NRT-SAN on Jal 787 Business (angle flat). What would you recommend? I know that the seats are flat on AA but service is so much better on JAL. Also I would save 25000 miles on JAL Business. What are your thoughts. Thanks! Love the blog – keep up the great work.
Hi airgypsy, not sure if Ben has reviewed that particular flight (you can find other first class reviews by him at http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/trip-report-index/airlines/). Since that’s closer to @Tiffany’s home airport I wonder if she has first hand experience…
Hi @airgypsy! I haven’t flown JL long-haul business class yet, but they have angled-flat seats on the 787.
Given the moderate mileage premium, I’d say AA is probably the better option. The seats will certainly be more comfortable, and F is nearly always better than J.
Let us know what you decide!
