How would you rate Emirates if you don’t take advantage of the bar?

Now that my vacation to the Maldives and traveling in Cathay first class is over, I’m excited to plan my next trip! I am intrigued to fly the Emirates A380, given that there have been quite a few posts on it recently. It seems like the onboard bar is a pretty big draw, but the thing is my wife and I aren’t the biggest drinkers–we’ll enjoy a glass or two of wine during the flight, but that would be it. Given that, how would you re-weight/rank Emirates among the other top F products?

Don’t forget the showers that you only find on EK and Etihad A380.

Lucky wrote a comparison of 6 best F cabins in his opinion last month, have you read it?

@Ray Y — I still think it’s a fun flight, and I’m not a big drinker either. My mom hated the onboard bar, but loved everything else about the flight, and it’s easy enough to just not go back there.

@Tiffany, would you mind sharing why she hated it?

We were the only female passengers in either premium cabin, and thus the bar was full of upper-middle-aged businessmen. In their pajamas. So it just felt skeevy.

    That’ll do it!

The bar on Emirates flights is highly overrated. It’s great when used as intended (viz. common social space), but not when it gets taken over by families as play area or babysitting space for the nanny from Econ to watch the kids while parents nap. I’m much happier in my spacious seat either watching a movie, sleeping or working using the wifi.
