How United reassigns seats from legacy 777-2 to upgraded 777-2 with Polaris hardware

How United reassigns seats from legacy 777-2 to upgraded 777-2 with Polaris hardware

I’m curious to find out if anyone knows how UA reassigns the seats from a legacy 777-2 to the upgraded ones with Polaris hardware. My wife and I are flying on a route that does not have a dedicated upgraded 777-2 so we’ll be rolling the dice if we get the old or new version come departure. Does anyone have insight into how (if an upgraded plane is assigned for our flight) the seats are reassigned from old to new?

Ideally, if we do get an upgraded plane, we’d like to have odd row middle (in front cabin) but realize we have no control over that at this point. However, I’m curious if there is a way to select a seat in the current 3 class configuration shown on our reservation that may “help’ us get a middle, odd row should we be blessed with polaris hardware. Likely a long shot but I figured if anyone knew (the 1K CSRs do not), it would be someone here!
