Connections to the IFE
Hello There,
in regard to the Laptop Ban on flights to the U.S. a question crossed my mind which I cannot answer, therefor I hope you may be able to enlighten me.
So no Laptops or Tablet-Computers but only mobile phones. Ok, a lot of pictures from Luckys trips have shown additional connectors aside from 110V and USB Power.
For example in this review:

It looks like a standard LAN-Port next to a USB and a Headphone Port
And here

I think I can see Video Ports there.
Do those Ports actually work? Could I connect my mobile phone so I could use the IFE Monitor with my mobile and a small, foldable Bluetooth keyboard? That way I could use the IFE Monitor and just work with Word, excel whatever or watch Videos from the phone on the large monitor.
Has anyone ever tested those connectors?
Just my idea to get around the Laptop ban.
Thanks for any answers.
Christopher
That’s a good question and is something I’ve wondered about as well. I haven’t tried the ports for myself though. Etihad’s A380 Apartments also have an HDMI port, if I recall.
I used the USB port on my AA flight (Airbus 333, business class seat) from PHL to VCE last Friday – to power/charge my iPad and iPhone. Nothing transfers off the device onto the IFE monitor.
