American vs British

AA J space on their 77W opened up and therefore I have a choice between that and British First on the 747 for LHR-JFK.

Does anyone have a preference? I know Ben calls BA F “really good business class” Is it worth the 20k points and ~$200 in fuel surcharges? (AS award pricing)

    Thanks for your opinions!

What does the seat map look like on the BA flight?

(Generally I would always say that first is better than business, but…)

14 seats in First on the BA 747

Though I think you mean how full it is. I’m assuming 1A/K is blocked, I’m in 2A and the rest of the cabin is empty at this point. Flight is mid-Feb 2016

Hah, yes, I meant how full it was/how people were arrayed.

2A is my favorite seat. If you’re traveling by yourself, haven’t done BA F yet, and don’t mind the additional costs, then go for it! If the only seats were in row 4 or something it might be different.

Definitely BA F. It might not be a very good F, but it beats AA J any day. If it was QR J on the B787 or A350, Cathay long haul J or SQ J or a number of the other Asian carrier it might be different.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll stick with BA F.

Hoping 747 F space opens up for a day later than what I’m already booked on since I have to pay the APD anyway. Only 772 F seats are available for now.
