Advice Needed (choosing best flight)

Advice Needed (choosing best flight)

1. Yosi New Member

Hey
I live in Israel and I would like to fly to New York in March for a vacation. I want to note that this will be the first time that I will fly to the United States.
I need assistance and guidance on selecting appropriate and comfortable flight. I personally prefer not to fly nonstop since the distance is long.
There are flights that interests me very much and I’d like to get your opinion on them.

First flight:
TLV-MXP-JFK
What is special about this flight?
1- First time Emirates 2- First time A380! 3- First time option for Business Class  in a good price ( According to my budget ) 1830 EUR . (+ flights from Israel)

Second flight:
TLV-FRA-JFK
What is special about this flight?
1- First time Singapore Airlines 2- Also A380! 3- Premium Economy Class 😎 instead of Business Class in first option. Price? 973.53 EUR . (+ flights from Israel)

What is special in two of these flights? 2 airlines are among the great companies in the world and they do not fly to or from Israel, very good product quality and good service. An opportunity would be a shame to miss.

On the other hand, I could save myself wavering or unnecessary headaches and fly with Air France, for example, flying with the A380 to New York. If I choose to fly business class with them I’ll pay the same price as on option No. 1, 2500$ ( + flight from Israel).

So .. what would you recommend? Choose option # 1 and enjoy, choose option No. 2, pay less, upgraded economy class but still Singapore Airlines? Or fly with Air France, and yet fulfill my dream and fly with the A380?

Another interesting option to fly with Aeroflot via Moscow, premium economy class, all the flights with 777-300ER, price: $1,019.18

Know what? Save your money. Keep it aside and enjoy him in New York.
In this case I thought about: TLV-LHR-JFK with BA. All flights will be with planes that never flew them! ( All Economy Class) 787 from TLV, 747-400 ( any chance for the new one – 800? ) from LHR-JFK. 777-200 from LHR-TLV (any chance for the 777-300ER? ) Price? $519.58. Yes, i know, crazy price!

It is important to note that I do not travel often and therefore the interest accrual of miles is not critical for me. On the other hand, this year I flew with Swiss and signed up for their club to try and understand what benefits I make as a result.

Sorry if this is too long. Thank you very much.

Wow so colorful!

EK business class is pretty good on the A380 – direct aisle access and full flat beds. I’d definitely choose this over SQ PEY if your budget allows. That being said, SQ PEY looks pretty good with some neat perks and is a great option.

Between EK and AF business class, it depends, I’d choose EK A380 business over AF A380 business. The latter has angle flat seats and not all direct aisle access. If you can get on one of AF’s flights with the new business class reverse herringbone product, it’s great and a solid choice.

I would assume Aeroflot is also a great option. Lucky and Tiffany had a great time flying with them in Business class.

BA is nothing to write home about, especially in economy and therefore, doesnt really matter which aircraft youre on. That being said, the 787 is newer and better for the body. BA doesnt have the new 747-8i but the 747-400 is still a 747.

I guess with all your options, I’d probably rank them as such: AF new J, EK J A380, AF J A380, SQ PEY, SU PEY, BA Y.

Have you thought about flying direct on El AL?

Hey David
Thank you for writing me back.
El Al? Not worth a comment! Even for free I would not fly with them. Bad company. bad service.
Thank you for the recommendations. πŸ˜‰

I’d definitely fly Aeroflot- you get the flight from Israel included and both flights are on 77Ws, you get the same food as business class but, you only get 2 entree choices. It is ~42 inches of legroom and 8-across.

I assume it means that if you were in business class you’d have 3-4 entree choices but in PE you only get 2 choices.

How about this?

The pirce is okayish (about 2600, same flights economy would be 630$) but the best part is you can get yourself a First Class seat for only about 300$ each on the TLV-ZRH/ZRH-TLV leg! There are many different options for the flight as well, with the possibility of having up to 12 hours (for return only) in ZRH where you could visit the city (10min train ride from the airport).

Hope I helped πŸ˜‰

That’s not a bad option for $2600. TLV-ZRH is on an A330. Not sure I’d pay an additional $300 for 4 hours in first class, especially since I dont think you’d be able to access the new LX F lounge at ZRH though. At least it’s a widebody with a real business class. The return ZRH-TLV return is on an A321 with the usual intra-Europe business though.

9. Nick Art Member

Oh then just chose the evening flight that’s certainly on an A330! For the First Class upgrade: Only a few ppl do this upgrade meaning you would have a cabin all to yourself with a FA just for you πŸ˜‰ Although on this short route the food is the same as Business πŸ˜‰ And no, I don’t think you’d get F Lounge Access.
