EK to PTY, world’s longest flight……delayed, as expected

EK to PTY, world’s longest flight……delayed, as expected

In case you have not yet heard, but Emirates has delayed launching flights to Panama City. As rumored, load factors have probably been super low, resulting in what EK calls “deferment of EK service to/from Panama”. I was booked on the route for 30 April from BKK, and was informed on 10 March that EK will either refund the tickets already issued, or reroute via an EK gateway city in the USA to connect with Copa flights to PTY. As a result I am now flying in via MCO and return via JFK. Not happy as I am swapping a direct 777 service with one stop in DXB for 2 stops and one 5 hour leg each way on a 737. I think they bit more than they could chew with PTY (remember that EVA (BR) used to fly to PTY for a short period of time before ceasing the service?).

Yes, but they’re being quite cagey about it! http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2016/03/03/emirates-panama-canceled/

Despite all indications the service will be canceled, they have a full staff in Panama City waiting for the planes, which is quite odd to me, but: Emirates.
