Aegean airlines nolonger recogizes Star Alliance Gold benefits within Greece
Hi Ben.
After specifically booking with Aegean Airlines, yesterday I was informed at Athens airport that all internal flights within Greece are now operated by Olympic Air, which Aegean purchased in 2012.
As Olympic Air is not a member of Star Alliance (Aegean Airlines is) they no longer recognises other Star Alliance members or status.
As the flight was Aegean hardware, the crew Aegean and the credit card charge was from Aegean, in your opinion and that of your readers is this not just a simple example of Aegean Airlines cost cutting against Star Alliance and is this a trend?
Hello Tzylor.
Sadly this is a problem with some *A subs.
Olympic was mentioned in the comments of this article last year.

Think you have something like this going on with Swiss and Edelweiss also.
In Europe outside *A the following comes to mind of similar cases Vueling with BA/Iberia, Travelservice with Czech and Transavia with AF/KLM with reduced elite benefits and/or reduced miles. .
