No award availability at Sheraton Roma
I posted this problem at flyertalk already, but neither agent nor SPG lurker were of any help (I’m only a lowly SPG gold, and only due to credit card sign ups).
My simple observations from SPG website:
– next 450 days there is no standard room award available
– next 450 days there is no Classic room available for cash
– end of May 2017 Classic room becomes available, and it is available for either cash or points
Comment I got from both agent and lurker: there is no “Classic” room available for time period and that is the only room category available for standard rewards. Ergo, I have to pay 5000 for next category (instead of 3000).
I’m not saying that Classic room HAS to be available, but the fact that Classic room is NOT available for 450 consecutive days is odd at minimum, if not outright deceitful.
Yet another example of hotel shenanigans, and this time SPG did nothing – that was surprising part, I held them in high esteem for keeping SPG as program “clean”. Aside from sending email to SPG (that got responded off by hotel itself) and contacting SPG lurker on flyertalk (which I did already), is there any other way I should be flagging this?
Are we talking about a specific hotel or are you just venting at SPG in general?
Let us know the hotel, please, and we can provide more accurate thoughts.
I do apologize, the subject of the message got cut of, it was supposed to read:
“No award availability at Sheraton Roma”
So, not SPG in general, one particular hotel: Sheraton Roma Hotel and Conference center.
@Marija — Definitely some shenanigans happening here, though it is possible the “Classic” rooms are being renovated or are otherwise sold out. I see the same thing with no availability until May 2017, and given the reputation of this hotel I wouldn’t be surprised if all the base rooms have been promised to tour groups.
If you’ve reached out to the Starwood Lurker, that will probably be the most productive.
All that being said, unless you have to stay here for a conference or something, I really wouldn’t recommend this property. The location is terrible, not convenient to either the airport or the city, and the promised shuttle options are effectively useless, in my experience.
