IHG Fall Promo Mattress Run

IHG Fall Promo Mattress Run

  1. txmitch10 New Member

I got the targeted IHG fall promo of a free night after two stays, then another free night after another two stays. Do you think this is worth a mattress run? I have a few trips coming up but have already booked hotels with points.

I live in the Dallas area, and there’s a Holiday Inn Express about a 15 minute drive from my house with a room this weekend for $64. Book that rate for a couple of different nights, check-in and probably just turn around and go home. Do you think that’s worth it for the free night I’d earn? Seems so to me but I wanted to be sure.

Also, if I check-in and leave, will they still credit me with the stay? I’ve never done a mattress run before.

Yes, you can check in and leave. As long as you pay you’ll get credited for the stay.

Is the free night good at any hotel or are there restrictions? How long is the free night certificate good for? Would it be worth it to replace one night of your existing plans with this free night (you’d get your points back, of course).

I read through the T&Cs and it appears the free night is good at any IHG property, and is valid through December 2016, so I’d have all of next year to use it.

Anyone else reading, does this logic make sense?

@txmitch10 The logic makes sense as long as you have a high value use for it. So if you were going to pay more than $128+whatever your local taxes are+some premium for time and effort and getting locked into IHG, in the future, then yes it would make sense.

Can you make bookings for successive nights, check out of one booking, check back in at the same property on the next booking, and have it count as separate stays? Will be in Bali in a few weeks, and there are properties there close to my actual hotel going for $32 per night. $128 for two nights at any IHG is tough to beat.

I haven’t read the terms and conditions for this promotion but usually a stay is defined as consecutive nights irrespective of check ins and check outs. If the bonus is stay dependant I would insert a night elsewhere between two IHG nights.

There are two properties at roughly the same price within a short distance, so I might just alternate days at each one.
