Hyatt Platinum – Suite Upgrade

Hyatt Platinum – Suite Upgrade

I was in Dubai for an overnight connection and decided to book the Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights on points. I asked ahead of time about a complimentary upgrade but wasn’t given any type of confirmation. Being that it was a quick overnight and an award stay, I didn’t care too much about an upgrade.

I check in and I was upgraded to a suite! By far the biggest hotel room I’ve ever been in. I was sort of frazzled after flying HKG-SIN-AUH-LHR (overnight) LGW-DXB so I didnt ask about it but would I have been eligible for the Regency Lounge and complimentary continental breakfast with the suite upgrade? It’s a listed suite benefit but I’m not entirely sure how that translates for an award night complimentary upgrade.

    Thanks!

    Good for you!

I, on the other hand, was highly disappointed with this hotel recently. I would go as far as to argue it was my worst Hyatt stay ever. And I did my research and chose this over the other old Regency (bad location), and nearby Grand.

Diamond status not mentioned during check-in (welcome bonus points posted though, go figure), had to argue to get a lounge check-in, the associate made me feel I was inconveniencing her with my requests and simple general questions about the rooms, asked for a high floor room – given lower end of mid-high, no welcome letter, key not coded to include lounge floor access, electricity system blackout, overcrowded pool, absolutely dirty windows (all the other even 4 star hotels in Dubai had already cleaned up after the sandstorm), bathroom flooded, service very inconsistent, long wait times when calling for assistance. The Russian front office manager essentially hide himself. Need I go on? I can: in-room requests that were pre-ordered never appeared, etc.

Checked out and moved over to Conrad. Almost same price, only a little higher. Day and night by comparison. Creek Heights towers can be seen from there and it is certainly nice to look at from a distance (in reality, the residence tower is obstructing the view from most of hotel side rooms). How they claim to be 5 stars (in Dubai!) is beyond me. Strong avoid! 4 star maximum, a hotel that is not keen to be part of Hyatt family and it shows, believe me!

Just to show this hotel can be really inconsistent.

David, did you end up getting club lounge for the stay? I believe you get the benefits of the room you’re booked in regardless of how you got there, but I could be mistaken.

I posted this after getting back stateside. It was a quick overnight on my way home to New York and I landed in Dubai late. All I wanted to do was sleep and club lounge access didn’t cross my mind until after I checked out. I was at the hotel for barely 12 hours. I feel like I probably would have gained access if I asked.

I’ll have a night at the Hyatt Capital Gate Abu Dhabi in October via a free night award from the Hyatt Card though, hopefully I’ll get another suite upgrade and lounge access.

There is no free lounge at Hyatt Capital Gate. The hotel itself is miles better though.

As @SpoiledBrat says no lounge at Hyatt Capital Gate, there is a lobby bar/cafe called a lounge
