How strict is “excellent credit”?
I read that the Club Carlson Visa requires excellent credit, I’ve consistently had 769 or higher for a long time but my score just dropped to 739 last month (potentially from applying for Marriott and Delta Platinum in the past 3 months?).
With that in mind, with a 739 FICO score, will I be approved for the Club Carlson Visa and/or IHG Rewards Card?
Appreciate your help, love your site!

Tim – you’re right about US Bank but I’d think you can still get approved. As for the IHG card, it depends on how many Chase cards you already have. I believe their new limit is 5 personal cards. But Chase is also great about shifting credit around if needed so if the application goes to the pending queue you can call ’em up and offer to reduce credit on one card to be able to get the IHG card.
Also, I’d apply for the Club Carlson card and get an answer before applying for the IHG card.
Good luck!
