Can Hyatt CC bonus nights be used with points+cash or regular points award for PH Maldives?

Can Hyatt CC bonus nights be used with points+cash or regular points award for PH Maldives?

    Lucky,

One more question related to PH Maldives. With regards to the 2 free nights awarded as a signup bonus for the Chase Hyatt Visa card, how are those issued, and can they be used in conjunction with points+cash or even just a pure Gold Passport points award?

My goal is an 8 day stay at PH Maldives. If my wife and I both got the Hyatt Visa, and thus 4 free nights, could all 4 nights be used on the same reservation (since we would both be listed on the reservation), or do you think we would have to make 2 separate consecutive reservations?

I’m shooting for October of 2016, so it’s a bit premature to apply for the card at this point. Is the 2 free night award a pretty standard signup bonus that is consistently available, or is it a “right now” kind of thing?

I’m looking forward to your upcoming review of PH Maldives..

@Brian – I can answer your question because I just redeemed my sign-up bonus nights. First the nights are issued as a separate award and listed under the “awards” category in your GP account. Second, they can be combined with other nights that are booked using points & cash and/or points only. And third, your reservation will be a single reservation. My example – booked 2 nights at the Seattle Hyatt Regency. One night was covered using the Chase award night and one night using points and cash. I also booked 2 nights at the Olive 8 in Seattle using the other Chase award night and the other night using all points. I booked my reservation through the Diamond reservation desk because points and cash reservations are not bookable online. I would suggest that you likewise book by calling Hyatt so that they can search availability and make sure everything is done properly.

Finally, with regard to your timing question, when you apply for the card is really more about timing your ability to meet your spend requirement than a calendar thing. The award nights are valid for 1 year from date of issue. Also, the 2 night award is the standard award and, IMO, unlikely to change.

@ Brian — KahunnaTravel is correct. Ultimately can’t do the same booking, but you can let the hotel know that you have consecutive reservations, and they can “merge” them. The two free nights is a pretty standard sign-up bonus, though it’s always subject to change.
