Qatar question

Qatar question

Hi Lucky, hope you had a great birthday last week. I have a quick question regarding Qatar biz. As you know they have an amazing sale on at the moment. I’m planning on taking wife and 4yo to Cape Town in October and I’m getting insanely cheap fares of about $4100 for the wife and myself and about $2600 for the kid – about $10,500 for all 3 incl taxes, etc). Service is mixed with 777 out of IAH and then 787 into CPT. I have never flown them and have read you aren’t a fan of the 777. In your opinion, as using Avios for my usual choice BA are of course unavailable, what would you do? I can use a combo of miles via Amex which means a mix of airlines, or just pay the $10,000 and apply the miles to my BA account? For the sale price I feel paying for it is a no-brainer. That’s what I’m leaning towards but wanted your or any readers advice. Thanks as always…

That does sound like quite a good value to me, so I’d probably book a cash ticket. If you’re traveling with someone then I think Qatar’s 777 seats are actually quite good, as they’re in a 2-2-2 configuration. My issue with the seats is when traveling alone, since I have a “stranger” as a seatmate. But paying cash at that price seems like quite a good deal.

    Enjoy the trip!
