Hi Ben,

My parents have never flown business class, and I am still a newcomer to frequent travel, the majority of my miles are locked up with United.

However my first BC trip was with Emirates from LHR to BKK and I would love to share this incredible experience with the two most important people in my life; my parents. So I am seeking the best options available to me.

As an expat and due to my relatively short history in the U.S. I seem to get declined for all of the credit cards you recommend!

What are my best alternatives for achieving this dream trip next year without forking out the $12-15k.

    All the best

    Matt

@Matt — Well, Alaska is the obvious option, as you can just buy those miles, but they don’t offer awards between Europe and the Middle East.

However, they do allow awards from Europe to the US with a stopover in the Middle East. Could you nest the trips in such a way that they’d have the long segment to the US for a future trip, maybe?

Otherwise I’d look at buying American miles for a redemption on Etihad or Qatar, which would also be great experiences.
