Creative routing as mileage run departing from CAI in order to maximize AA miles earning
Hi lucky, I am pretty much a novice when it comes to mileage run etc. I can be often/easily positioned in CAI so “before AA mileage earning scheme changes”, I’d like to earn as many AA redeemable miles as possible using mileage runs (either in eco or biz, I don’t care). I am aware that you wrote a piece about cheap biz class by Qatar departing CAI (I see that around $1500). Could you tell me how I can “exactly” calculate how many miles I could earn (note: no status with AA) if I credit this Qatar flights to AAdvantage account? Also any creative routing you can think of in order to maximize AA miles earning departing CAI? Thanks !
Jessie you can calculate AA mileage on Qatar using this chart https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/earnMiles/airlines/qatar.jsp. Using a tool like gcmap will show the mileage between any two points on the globe.
If you want to get creative ideas it might be worthwhile to hang out on the FlyerTalk mileage run forum or play with the multiple segment tool on QR and see what you can get to price.
