Block Price Increase (full month)

Block Price Increase (full month)

    Hi,

I had an interesting experience booking a flight recently, and wanted to check if it was a common one, and whether Ben / anyone had any advice regarding this.

I am planning a trip in 9 months time from Russia to Asia. The one way fares with Aeroflot were a good price, $240, every day from 7 months in advance onwards (May until September). However when I tried to search for 2 tickets, the price went up to $780.

I decided to book the first ticket, at $240, and see what happened. Sure enough, after I booked, and searched again, the ticket price had gone up to $390 (as expected, they only have certain number of seats at specific fares).

However, the strange thing was, every flight that month now, when searching for 1 ticket, has gone up to $390.

By purchasing one ticket, for one day in the month, all 31 days had a price increase of over 60%.

Just wanted to check, has anyone else come across this type of price movement? I assume I should not expect the price to come back down for any of these days… however for the month before, and the month after, the prices are still $240 per seat, so I am not sure if I leave it for a while whether the prices may indeed come back down to closer to previous levels.

Thanks for any similar experience you can share!

    Rowan
