Best way to get discount airfare? AAA, Amex, Venture- what else?

Best way to get discount airfare? AAA, Amex, Venture- what else?

Looking for the best way to get discounted air travel for a family trip (prices are $$$!). We are trying AAA, Venture points, Amex points- what am I missing?

How are you using your Amex points? If you’re “shopping” through the Amex portal and using them as cash, they’re worth a specific value per point. If there is award space on your route and you can transfer your points to an airline it *might* be a better value. You can also set alerts on Google Flights to let you know when prices drop.

Perhaps you could give us your origin & destination and approximate dates and we can see if we can help.

Hi- We’re flying round trip SFO-Boston the third week of July. With children, red eye flights are out. Thanks for any tips!

You may have better luck purchasing two sets of one-way tickets. If you could do the red-eyes that would really drop your price but that may be a no-go.

Look at each date individually on Google Flights as one-ways and don’t forget to check Southwest.com as that’s the only place you’ll see their flights.

Booking this close in for transcon routes during summer vacation is always tough.

Hi, We have a lot of AMEX points and I always find the tickets offers with Amex not a good value. I saw your comment to transfer Amex points to an airline. HOW can I do that? Where do I start? THANK YOU.
