BA exec club status points for Malaysia airlines business class sale fares

BA exec club status points for Malaysia airlines business class sale fares

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Lucky,

I’m planning a trip to Australia from London in April. Malaysia airlines is currently having a business class fare sale with what appear to be very cheap fares – around £1,990 LHR to MEL/PER/SYD.

Firstly, do you consider this a good deal?

Secondly, are these fares likely to credit the normal J class status points to my British Airways executive club membership?

I ask the second question because I’ve heard that other one world carriers (e.g. Qatar Airways) sometimes do not credit award status points on heavily discounted business class fares. I’m hoping this won’t be the case with the Malaysia promotion!

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated, thanks!

It depends on your fare class.

According to BA’s website, MH flights credited to BA’s program earn based on the chart found here: http://www.britishairways.com/en-us/executive-club/collecting-avios/flights

You’d be getting 125% Avios of the miles flown plus Tier points but no tier bonus.

Thanks David! I’ve worked out that the fare class would be Z. BA’s website suggests this fare type earns avios and tier points, so looks like a goer!
